The "Lahore Space Club" was founded two years ago when a group of boys felt that despite the enthusiasm for space in Pakistan, there was no local public forum where the works of space enthusiasts could be expressed and displayed. Thus LSC became a place where local students interested in space could express their interest in an environment where it would be welcomed and appreciated. Working on its founding philosophy, the LSC has since then helped scores of students arrange space meets and social gatherings dedicated to the study of space. The LSC now constitutes of over 600 students studying in various schools in Lahore.
After the founding members participated in several international Space Settlement Design Contests, the LSC hosted a local competition, where students could participate freely with no restrictions. This would not only allow them to partake in their hobby but also prepare them for international competitions. This competition was held successfully on 1st January 2011. The results can be accessed here. Prizes were also distributed by the society. Because of the enormous amount of enthusiasm displayed, a second competition is planned to be held shortly. Registration for this can be done by filling this form.
The society is, unfortunately, restricted to the city of Lahore for the primary reasons of convenience and ease of accessibility.
The LSC has affiliated itself with renowned Pakistan space institutes such as Punjab University Space Department and SPARCO; the national leader in space research.
