After a good start in the 1980s Pakistan's space program today lies well behind the countries of this region and its contribution on the world stage is wholly insignificant. Through this competition we hope to create awareness about the need for and the advantages of space exploration and perhaps eventual colonization of space, in the youth of Pakistan. The NSSDC is a nationwide contest in which we give students the chance to put their knowledge and understanding of physics, astronomy and other related disciplines to test. Students have to design an orbital space colony meeting certain criteria given beforehand. The design of the habitat and its unique features have to be illustrated in a 40 page document to be submitted in hard copy format at our address
Keeping in mind the differences in knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts between the different age groups in the participants, we have decided to create three separate age groups, each judged separately.
A: Grades 6-8,
B: Grades 9-10
C: Grades 11-12
These age groups will all be judged separately in the competition except except for the grand-prize, for which all submissions would be judged by the same criteria.
